I finally got around to organizing the garage last weekend and it feels like a whole new space. I found some old camping gear I forgot we even had and a box of books I thought I lost years ago. I started by pulling everything out into the driveway which was a mess but honestly the only way to really see what you're working with. I grouped things into keep donate and toss piles and ended up getting rid of about three full carloads of stuff. The shelves look so clean now and I can actually park both cars inside again. My wife was skeptical when I said I was going to tackle it but she came out halfway through and helped sort through the holiday decorations. We found two identical boxes of lights so now we have backups for next year. I still need to mount a few hooks on the wall for the garden tools but the hard part is done. It took about six hours total with a lunch break in between. I'm already looking at the shed with a similar mindset but that might be a project for another month.
The funny thing is I started watching a show about extreme hoarders last week and it gave me a weird burst of motivation. Not that our garage was anywhere near that bad but it made me realize how easy it is to let things pile up when you just keep pushing it off. I made a rule for myself that if I buy something new for the garage something old has to go. We'll see how long that lasts but so far so good. The best part is I found a vintage toolbox my dad gave me years ago that I'd completely forgotten about. It needs a little cleaning but I'm going to restore it and put it out on the workbench.

I started reading that book you mentioned last week and I cannot put it down. I was a little slow getting into it for the first few chapters because there are so many characters to keep straight but once I got them all sorted the story really took off. I love how the author describes the setting it feels like you are right there in the middle of everything. I have been staying up way too late reading just one more chapter over and over again. I am about three quarters of the way through now and I think I know where it is heading but there are still a few twists I do not see coming. I am going to try to finish it this weekend so we can talk about it. I already ordered the next one in the series because I have a feeling I am going to want to keep going after this ends. Let me know if you have any other recommendations for something similar. I like having a few options lined up so I do not have that empty feeling when a good book ends. I think the last time I was this into a story was a couple of years ago with that mystery series you lent me. I still think about how that one ended sometimes. It is rare to find a book that stays with you like that.
On a completely different note I finally swapped out the old faucet in the kitchen and it was way easier than I expected. I watched a couple of videos first and then just went for it. The hardest part was reaching the nuts under the sink because the space is so tight but a basin wrench made all the difference. The new one looks so much better and the sprayer actually works properly which is a huge upgrade from the old one that just dribbled. I saved about two hundred dollars by doing it myself and it only took about an hour and a half total including a trip to the store for the right fittings. I am already looking for the next project to try. Maybe the bathroom vanity next.
