Yeah I think the bookshelf project is going well so far. I picked up the wood last weekend and already cut all the pieces to size. The hardest part was getting the measurements right for the adjustable shelves. I decided to go with a darker stain to match the other furniture in the living room. My neighbor let me borrow his orbital sander which saved a lot of time. I still need to pick out the right finish and decide whether to add a back panel or leave it open. The whole thing should be done by next weekend if I can find time after work. I also need to grab some brass handles for the lower cabinet doors. I think the overall dimensions will work perfectly in that corner space by the window. Let me know if you want to come take a look once it is assembled.

I also picked up some felt pads for the bottom so it does not scratch the floor. The whole project cost less than I expected and the quality looks better than anything I could buy at a store. I will send you some photos when I finish the final coat of polyurethane.

Redeem My Gift

This offer is available for a limited time while supplies last. Terms and conditions apply.

I tried that new pasta recipe you sent me and it turned out really well. The key was letting the sauce simmer for at least 45 minutes to get the flavors to blend properly. I added a bit more garlic than what the recipe called for and used fresh basil from the garden. Next time I think I will try it with whole wheat pasta to make it a bit heartier. The leftovers kept well in the fridge for a couple of days too.

I served it with a simple side salad and some crusty bread. The whole meal came together in about an hour and was perfect for a weeknight dinner. I am planning to make it again for my parents when they visit next month. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I also picked up a nice bottle of olive oil from the farmers market that really added depth to the sauce. Let me know if you have any other recipes that use fresh tomatoes since I have a bunch from the garden.
