Hey, thanks for the note about the hike last weekend. We ended up taking the trail around the lake instead of the ridge path because the weather shifted in the morning. It was still beautiful though — the water was glassy and we saw a family of ducks near the south shore. I forgot how good it feels to just sit on a log and breathe for a while.
Your suggestion about bringing snacks was spot on. We packed sandwiches and some fruit, and it made the whole afternoon feel like a proper picnic. The kids collected pinecones and tried skipping stones. One of them actually got three skips, which was impressive for a six-year-old.

I finally got around to reading that book you recommended last month and I have to say it was not what I expected at all. The pacing threw me off at first but once I got past the middle section I could not put it down. The way the author described the market scenes made me feel like I was actually there walking through the stalls.
I ended up finishing it in three days which is fast for me. My favorite character was the one with the red scarf. There was something about her quiet patience that felt really real. I am planning to pick up the sequel next week if the library has it. Let me know if you have read that one yet and whether it holds up.
Also thanks for the tip about that podcast. I listened to two episodes on my commute and it made the drive go by so much faster. The host has a great voice for storytelling. We should trade recommendations again soon.
