Yes I think the trailhead parking fills up pretty early on weekends so we should aim to get there by seven thirty at the latest. The forecast looks decent with just a slight chance of afternoon showers so bringing a light jacket would be smart. I checked the park website and the main loop is about six miles with moderate elevation gain. There are a few stream crossings but the water levels should be low this time of year. We can stop at the overlook around the midpoint for a break. If we pace ourselves we should be back at the cars by early afternoon. Let me know if you want to grab lunch somewhere after we finish up. I know a good spot not too far from the trailhead that has outdoor seating. The menu there has options for everyone and the portions are generous. We should be able to get a table without a reservation if we arrive before the main lunch rush.

I also wanted to check if anyone in the group has dietary restrictions I should know about before we finalize plans. The trail has some shaded sections but most of it is exposed so bringing sunscreen and plenty of water is important. I plan to carry about two liters per person. The elevation gain is spread out evenly so it should not feel too strenuous. There are benches along the way at several scenic points where we can take short breaks. The wildflowers should be starting to bloom near the upper meadows which will be nice to see.

I tried that slow cooker recipe you mentioned last weekend and it turned out really well. The key was browning the meat first before adding it to the pot which made a big difference in depth of flavor. I adjusted the seasoning a bit using smoked paprika instead of regular and added a little extra garlic. The cooking time was about seven hours on low which left the texture perfect. I served it with roasted vegetables and some crusty bread to soak up the sauce. Next time I might try adding some fresh herbs at the end to brighten it up. My family asked me to put it in the regular rotation so I would say it was a success. Thanks for the suggestion.

I also wanted to ask about the side dish you mentioned that goes well with this. Was it the one with green beans and almonds or the roasted carrots with honey. I think either would pair nicely but I want to try the one you recommended. Also do you think this recipe would freeze well for later use. I have been trying to build up a few meals in the freezer for busy weeks and this seems like a good candidate. Let me know what you think.
