I just got back from the hardware store and honestly I'm still not sure I picked the right paint color for the living room. I was going back and forth between a warm grey and something with a little more beige in it and the guy there said just go with your gut but my gut has been wrong before you know. He was nice though showed me a few samples under the store lights and I grabbed two different ones to bring home. I figured I'd paint a small patch on the wall and see how it looks at different times of day because the afternoon light in that room is totally different from the morning. My neighbor said she used a color called greige and loved it but I'm not sure I want to go that route. I'll probably end up going back tomorrow to swap one of them anyway.
Also I finally ordered that bookshelf I've been talking about for months. It's supposed to arrive next week and I'm honestly more excited than I should be about a piece of furniture. I've been stacking books on the floor for way too long and it's starting to look like a hazard more than a display. My cat keeps knocking them over too so I really need something tall and sturdy. I measured the corner three times so hopefully I got it right. Fingers crossed it fits because I really don't want to deal with returning something that big.

I tried that new ramen place on fourth street yesterday and honestly I was a little disappointed. The broth was good but the noodles were way too soft for my taste and the pork belly was kind of dry on the edges. I wanted to love it because everyone's been talking about it but I think I'll stick with my usual spot a few blocks over. The atmosphere was nice though they had these little lanterns hanging everywhere and the music was at a good volume where you could still have a conversation without shouting. I sat at the counter and watched the chef work for a while and he was definitely skilled just maybe having an off night or maybe that's just how they do it there. I might give it another shot in a month or so to see if things improve.
My sister called me last night to tell me she finally adopted a dog from the shelter. A little terrier mix with one ear that flops down and one that stands straight up. She sent me like fifteen photos and I have to admit the dog is pretty adorable. She's been talking about getting one for over a year and I'm glad she waited until she felt ready instead of rushing into it. She works from home most days so the timing makes sense now. I told her I'd come over this weekend to meet the little guy and bring a toy or something. She said he's already claimed a spot on the couch and chewed the corner of a throw pillow so he's settling in just fine. I'm a little jealous honestly but my apartment is way too small for a dog right now so I'll just live vicariously through her for a while.
