Yeah I totally get what you mean about the timing. I was actually telling my friend the same thing last week when we were driving back from that little trip to the coast. She kept saying how everything felt rushed and I agreed but also pointed out that sometimes it's nice to just let things unfold without over-planning every detail. The weather was perfect that afternoon and we ended up stopping at a random fruit stand along the highway which turned out to be the highlight of the whole day. They had these tiny peaches that were incredibly sweet and the guy running it told us about how he got started growing them after retiring from teaching. I love moments like that where you stumble into something good without expecting it. Anyway I think the whole experience reminded me that not everything has to be mapped out perfectly to be worthwhile. We spent the rest of the drive just listing all the random places we wanted to explore this summer and half of them don't even exist on any map which honestly feels more exciting than any planned itinerary. You should try it sometime just pick a direction and go without checking your phone once.

Oh that reminds me of something funny that happened with my cousin last weekend. She had been going on and on about this new plant she bought and how I had to come see it like it was some kind of rare artifact. So I finally drove over and she led me to her living room where this medium-sized potted thing was sitting on a stand and honestly it looked just like every other leafy green plant I have ever seen. I stood there nodding and saying oh wow yeah that's nice while she explained its light requirements and watering schedule in extreme detail. Then she touched one of the leaves and it literally folded up like it was hiding from her. I jumped back and she started laughing so hard she had to sit down. Apparently it's a sensitive plant and that's its whole thing it folds up when you touch it. I had no idea plants could do that. We spent the next hour just poking different leaves watching them curl shut and then reopen slowly. She named it Oscar and now every time I visit I have to go say hi to Oscar and watch him do his trick. It's become this whole ritual and I honestly love it more than I expected.
