I think I finally figured out what was going wrong with the garden bed drainage. The soil mix was too dense and it wasn't letting the water flow through properly. I added some perlite and sand and it made a huge difference in just a couple of days. The tomatoes are already looking perkier. I also moved the basil to a spot that gets more afternoon sun and it seems happier. Let me know if you want me to help with yours this weekend. I'm free Saturday morning and can bring extra perlite. Hey thanks for sending that article about the hiking trails up north. I skimmed through it and a couple of them look like they'd be perfect for a day trip. I was thinking maybe we could plan something for next month when the weather cools off a bit. The one with the lake view seems like a good option since it's only about three miles round trip and not too steep. Let me know if you've done any of those routes before. Also I finally bought a decent pair of boots so I'm ready for something beyond the paved paths. We should pick a Saturday and make a proper outing out of it. Bring snacks and plenty of water obviously. Let me know what works.
