Yeah the garden project is coming along nicely. We finally got the raised beds built last weekend and I'm really happy with how they turned out. The soil mix we used seems to be draining well which was my main concern. I ended up going with cedar for the frames since it holds up better against moisture. Next on the list is setting up the drip irrigation system before things get too hot. I found a pretty simple kit online that should work for our setup. The tomatoes and peppers are already in pots waiting to go in the ground. We also decided to add a small herb section along the side which will be convenient for cooking. Let me know if you want to come by and see it this weekend.

I also picked up some marigolds to plant around the border since they help keep pests away naturally. The whole setup should be fully planted by the end of next week if the weather cooperates. We still need to run the drip lines under the mulch before things get established. I found a timer attachment that makes watering automatic which will help when we are away.

We finally made a decision on the patio furniture after going back and forth for weeks. Ended up going with the teak set since it requires less maintenance and looks good even as it weathers. The delivery is scheduled for next Thursday so we'll need to be around to accept it. We also ordered a couple of outdoor cushions in a neutral color that should tie everything together. I'm thinking we should plan a small get-together once everything is set up maybe in a few weeks. The outdoor lights we picked up last month still need to be hung along the pergola. I was thinking about running the wiring myself but decided to have a professional handle it just to be safe.

We also picked up a fire pit table that doubles as a dining surface which will be nice for cooler evenings. The whole backyard project started as just a simple seating area but grew into something more complete. I found a good deal on the teak oil so we can treat the furniture before the season really gets going.
