we checked the park calendar and saturday the 14th is open from 8am until noon so that should give us enough time to set up tables and chairs before everyone arrives. the city requires a permit for any gathering over fifty people so we need to submit that application by the 7th. i already reserved the grill area so we can do burgers and hot dogs for the main meal. we still need a volunteer to manage the sign-in table and another person to help direct parking. i ordered extra nametags this year since we ran out early last time. the extended forecast looks good but we have the pavilion reserved as a backup if needed. let me know if you can take one of those volunteer slots. also we should send a reminder to everyone a few days before so they know what to bring and where to park.

i used whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose and it turned out fine. letting the dough rest for at least twenty minutes before rolling makes a big difference in texture. i added honey instead of sugar for a subtle sweetness that worked well with the filling. fresh berries from the farmers market are best with a little lemon zest stirred in. bake at 375 for about 25 minutes until the edges turn golden. you can prep the dough the night before and keep it in the fridge wrapped tight. just take it out thirty minutes before rolling so it softens slightly. everyone at the table asked for seconds so i consider it a win. let me know if you want the exact measurements and i will find the card i wrote them on.
