Regarding your question about the coastal trip next month, I think we should aim for the second weekend since the first one might still be chilly for swimming. Sarah mentioned that the cabin she found has three bedrooms and a nice deck overlooking the water, which would be perfect for morning coffee. We should probably decide on meals soon too. I can bring my portable grill and we could do a seafood dinner one night. The tide pools near the north end of the beach are supposed to be excellent that time of year. Let me know if you want me to reach out to the group about coordinating schedules. I think everyone would be happy with that plan as long as we finalize details by next week. The weather should be nice enough for hiking trails along the bluff as well. I will check on pet policies since Mark might bring his dog.

About the bookshelf you mentioned building, I think cherry wood would look really nice in your living room based on the photos you sent. The dimensions you shared seem workable but you might want to add an extra inch of depth if you plan to store larger books. I have a jointer you could borrow if needed. For the finish, I would recommend a natural oil rather than polyurethane since it will highlight the grain better. The joinery you described should be strong enough for moderate weight.
