The trail along the river is nice this time of year because the foliage provides good shade. It takes about forty minutes to reach the overlook and the elevation gain is gradual so it is not too strenuous. There is a parking area at the base and the path is well marked. If you want a longer route, you can continue past the overlook for another mile to reach the meadow. That section has some rocky areas so wear sturdy shoes. We usually go early in the morning to avoid crowds and bring water and snacks for the trip. The view from the top is worth the effort and there are benches where you can rest and take in the scenery.
