Yeah I think the key with tomatoes is consistent watering and making sure they get at least six hours of direct sun each day. I started mine from seed back in March and they are really taking off now. The variety I planted produces large beefsteak type fruits. I also put a layer of straw mulch around the base to help retain moisture and keep the soil temperature steady. You mentioned you had issues with blossom end rot last year and that is usually a calcium deficiency or uneven watering. Adding some crushed eggshells to the soil when you plant can help with the calcium. I also use a simple drip irrigation system on a timer so they get water at the same time every morning. It made a huge difference for me. If you want I can send you the link to the timer I use it was pretty inexpensive and easy to set up. Just make sure you prune the suckers that grow between the main stem and the branches as that helps the plant focus energy on fruit production. I have also been using a fish emulsion fertilizer every two weeks and the plants look really healthy. The weather has been cooperating nicely with warm days and cooler nights which the tomatoes seem to love.

I finally finished that mystery novel you recommended and I have to say the ending really caught me off guard. I thought I had it figured out about halfway through but the author threw in that twist in the last few chapters that changed everything. The character development was very well done especially the detective who had all those personal struggles going on. I liked how the author included details about the small town setting as it made everything feel more grounded. I am thinking about picking up another book by the same author next. Have you read any of their other work I am wondering if they have a series with the same detective character. The pacing was a bit slow in the middle section but the payoff at the end was worth it. I also appreciated that the chapters were short as it made it easy to read a few pages before bed each night. If you have any other recommendations in the same genre please let me know as I am always looking for something new to read. I tend to lean toward stories with strong character arcs and atmospheric settings.
