Thanks for reaching out about the weekend plans. I think Saturday afternoon would work well for the gathering at the park near the river. The weather forecast looks promising with mild temperatures and partly cloudy skies. I can bring a few folding chairs and maybe a cooler with some beverages. Let me know if you want me to pick up anything from the market on the way. I was thinking we could start around 2pm so there is plenty of daylight left. The trail should be less crowded by then. I will check with the group about any dietary preferences or restrictions. We should also bring a blanket just in case the grass is damp. The pavilion has plenty of tables so that should be fine. Let me know what else you need from me.

I wanted to follow up on your question about the garden project. The raised beds should be oriented north to south so they get even sunlight throughout the day. Cedar is a good choice for the frame material since it resists rot naturally. I would recommend mixing compost into the soil about two weeks before planting. The local nursery should have starter plants ready by mid spring. You will want to water deeply rather than frequently to encourage root growth. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and keep weeds down. If you stagger the planting by a couple weeks you can extend the harvest window. Let me know if you want help measuring the backyard space this weekend. I have a tape measure and some stakes we can use to map everything out.
