I spent all weekend trying to fix that leaky faucet in the downstairs bathroom. Let me tell you, it started with a simple YouTube tutorial and ended with me having to call the landlord because I somehow managed to strip the thread on the supply line. Water was everywhere! The plumber came on Monday and fixed it in like 10 minutes. I felt ridiculous but also kind of proud that I tried, you know? Anyway, the moral of the story is sometimes it's better to call a professional right away. But I did learn what a P-trap is, so that's something. Also, my cat was terrified of the pipe wrench. She hid under the bed for two hours and gave me the evil eye every time I walked past. I think she knew I was in over my head.
We decided to try geocaching last weekend, which is essentially a high-tech scavenger hunt using GPS coordinates. We thought it would be a nice, easy walk in the park. Three hours later, we were deep in a bramble patch, covered in mud, and arguing about whether the treasure was actually hidden under that specific rock or maybe behind that tree. My shoes are still stained. We did eventually find it - a tiny plastic tube with a soggy logbook. The kids thought it was the greatest thing ever and want to go again this weekend. I guess we need to invest in some waterproof boots. It's actually kind of addictive, even if you look like a swamp monster afterwards. Highly recommend it if you want an adventure close to home.

Hey, have you been following that new documentary series about the history of modern architecture? I started watching it last night and I'm completely hooked. They did a whole segment on the Bauhaus movement and how it influenced everything from skyscrapers to the chairs we sit in. It's fascinating to see how design principles from a hundred years ago are still used today. My favorite part was about the construction of the Sydney Opera House. The engineering challenges were incredible, and the final result is just breathtaking. It makes me want to travel more and see these iconic buildings in person. Let me know if you decide to check it out. I think you'd really enjoy the way they break down the concepts. It's not boring at all, really well produced. I watched two episodes back to back without even realizing it. Definitely worth your time if you appreciate design at all.
I tried that new sourdough starter recipe you sent me. It took forever to get it going, but I finally baked my first loaf yesterday. The crust was perfect, super crunchy and golden, but the inside was a bit denser than I hoped. I think I need to work on my kneading technique or maybe let it rise a bit longer. The flavor was spot on though. There's something really satisfying about making bread from scratch. It feels almost magical, watching the dough transform and rise using just flour, water, and a bit of patience. My whole kitchen smelled amazing. My neighbor stopped by because she smelled it through the window. I sent her home with a few slices. I think I'll stick with it and try a different flour blend next time.
