I checked the trail conditions for the Mount Adams loop this weekend. The ranger station confirmed the south ridge route is open but there is still some patchy snow near the upper elevations. I was thinking we could start early Saturday around 6am from the parking area and hike the switchbacks up to the ridge line. The total loop covers about 8 miles so we should plan for 5 to 6 hours with breaks for water and snacks. I will bring extra water filtration tablets since the streams are running high this time of year. Let me know if you want to carpool from my place or meet at the trailhead directly. The weather forecast shows partly cloudy with temperatures in the mid sixties so it should be comfortable hiking weather. I also wanted to ask if you have a spare camp stove we could borrow for making lunch on the trail.

We finally got the raised beds installed last weekend at the community garden plot on Elm Street. The soil mix we used was three parts compost with one part vermiculite and it looks really good for planting. I am thinking we should start with tomatoes and peppers since they will have enough time before the first frost. The garden coordinator mentioned we could also put in some herbs along the border. I can bring the seedlings I started at home. We still need to set up the drip irrigation system before next week. I found a timer at the supply store that connects to the main spigot and it was reasonably priced. I will swing by the hardware store on Wednesday to pick up the fittings we need. Let me know if you want to work on the installation this Saturday afternoon after the farmers market.
