I finally sat down and watched that documentary you recommended about the history of skateboarding in the 80s. It was incredible how much raw footage they dug up from old home videos. I had no idea that the culture started in such a specific place in California. The interviews with the original skaters were really insightful, especially the part about how they designed their own boards because nothing existed commercially yet. It makes you appreciate how much the sport has evolved. I've been browsing online for a decent board to just cruise around the neighborhood on, even though I'm probably way too old to start now without hurting myself. It looks like such a good way to get around though.

We finally made the decision to adopt a rescue dog from the local shelter. The process was surprisingly thorough, which I appreciate because they really want to make sure the animals go to good homes. We brought home a medium-sized mixed breed who is just the sweetest, most gentle soul. He's still a little shy around loud noises, but he's already starting to warm up to us and explore the house. We're working on basic commands and he's picking up on sit and stay pretty quickly. It's been a lot of work adjusting our schedule for walks and feeding times, but it's absolutely worth it. I've been reading a lot about enrichment toys to keep him mentally stimulated when we're at work. Any recommendations would be great.
