I was looking at the photos from the hike last weekend and realized I never sent you the link to that trail map we used. The weather was perfect and the views from the summit were incredible. We brought sandwiches and ate them sitting on that big flat rock near the top. The whole loop was about six miles with moderate elevation gain so it took us most of the afternoon. There was a stream crossing around the halfway point where we stopped to filter water. I think your kids would really enjoy the trail 5vz0YDfpV7qcA especially the part where we saw the old fire lookout tower. Let me know if you want me to send over the GPS coordinates for the parking area. We might go again this fall when the leaves change color. It was such a good way to unplug for a few hours and just enjoy being outside. The best part was that we only saw a handful of other people on the trail so it felt very quiet and private.

I finally signed up for those guitar lessons at the community center downtown. The instructor is a retired musician who used to play in a jazz band so he has a lot of interesting stories to share during the breaks. We started with basic chord progressions and finger placement exercises which felt a bit clumsy at first but it is starting to click after a few sessions. The class is small with only five other students so we get plenty of individual attention. I have been practicing about twenty minutes each evening and can already play a simple version of that folk song I mentioned. It is surprisingly relaxing to focus on something completely unrelated to work for a change. The instructor also showed us a few blues riffs which sounded much harder than they actually are. I am hoping to build up enough confidence to play at the open mic night they host at the coffee shop next month. You should come check it out if you are free that evening.
