We brought sandwiches and ate at the overlook around noon. There were quite a few birds out, including a pair of woodpeckers near the creek crossing. I think next time we'll start earlier to avoid the crowds on the way back. The parking lot was nearly full when we got there at 10am. Let me know if you want to join next weekend, we're planning to do the loop counterclockwise this time. I heard the wildflowers are starting to bloom along the eastern ridge. Overall it was a solid recommendation, thanks again. Also, the forecast looks clear for Saturday so that should work out well. Just finished reading that novel you lent me. I have to say the pacing in the middle section really pulled me in, especially the chapter about the old lighthouse keeper. The descriptions were vivid without being too flowery. I stayed up way too late last night to finish the last hundred pages. The ending was not what I expected at all, but it worked. Have you read anything else by that author? I'd be interested in checking out their earlier work if it has a similar feel. I'll return the book this weekend, thanks for the loan. Let me know if you want to grab coffee and discuss it, I have a few theories about the symbolism that I'd love to talk through. Overall I'd give it a solid eight out of ten. The prose was clean and the characters felt real.
